It's often said that a good concert programme should be like a gourmet meal - the courses balanced with starters, palette cleansers and something sweet to finish. When it comes to chamber music there is an abundance of main courses. Of course this is the repertoire that we in the Rossetti Ensemble love to play and audiences love to hear but there are very few shorter pieces for the piano quartet. The group address this by including  arrangements by their pianist John Lenehan of selected pieces such as the Debussy prelude which you can hear on the home page. This work happens also to be the group's "signature" piece as it was originally a work in which Debussy set a text by Gabriel Dante Rossetti. Together with a growing list which, so far, includes shorter works by Schumann, Brahms, Fauré and Piazzolla, we aim to leave our audiences with just the right balance of food for the soul.
